about

The album is released on the label PANTOPIA, and is available for everyone for free.
pantopia-music.org/album/songs-of-wounding/

In extensive research, singer and performer Mariana Sadovska has made field recordings in Ukrainian villages over the years, exploring various songs and singing techniques that have been forgotten in the collective memory. These archive recordings flow into a dialogue between Sadovska and the composer Max Andrzejewski. The music for 8 piece ensemble of musicians from early music and improvisational music meditatively circles around the dark, the wound, the pain, the revolt.

The premiere happened in December 2021 at Radialstem Berlin, two months before the Russian invasion in Ukraine.
